Anamika Veeramani: Anamika Veeramani Win US Spelling Bee Crown



 The eighth-grader, who plays golf and likes to dance, wants to become a cardiovascular surgeon from Harvard. It seems that the girl is on the right track. She won the trophy after spelling out a medical term and appeared deadpan until receiving the trophy. "It was too surreal. It was an amazing experience. I usually have a poker face, so that's what that was," Anamika said.

She had finished tied for fifth last year. Anamika now became the third consecutive Indian-American champion National Spelling Bee. Nupur Lala was the first Indian-American to claim the prize in 1999 and was featured in the documentary "Spellbound."
